Harrisonburg Internal Medicine is a private partnership of George A. Roussel, MD and Gene L. Yoder, MD.  Drs. Roussel and Yoder specialize in the practice of general Internal Medicine. Together, they have over 80 years of experience providing primary medical care for adults.

Our history can be traced back to Dr. John Wine, the first internist to practice in Harrisonburg and the first physician to use penicillin and insulin in this city.  Dr. Wine opened his office in 1919 and was later joined by his son, Dr. Jean Wine, followed by Dr. Jim Brunk, Dr. Roussel’s former partners, before their retirement.  He joined Drs. Brunk and Wine in 1975.

Our very competent medical staff makes every effort to provide for our patient’s medical needs in a personal, kind, and gentle manner.

Our doctors are very aware of the high cost of medical test, imaging procedures, and medications.  They make a concerted effort to minimize those expenses, whenever possible, while continuing to provide optimal medical care for their patients.

Please be aware that physicians employed by large medical corporations are paid by the same companies that bill for medical services and diagnostic testing, which, on occasion, can lead to excessive testing and expense.  There is little incentive to be frugal with patient’s resources.  This is not the case at Harrisonburg Internal Medicine.

We participate with almost all insurance companies, most of which allow for yearly checkups without a co-pay.  Regrettably, we are unable to accept Medicaid as the primary insurance.

Our office hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Mondays through Thursdays and 8:00 Am until noon on Fridays.  While we accept walk-in patients, appointments are encouraged for your convenience.

Our address is 1937 Medical Av., Harrisonburg, Va., 22801.  Medical Av. is one block from the corner of Reservoir St. and University Blvd.

Our telephone number is (540) 433-6967.  Press 0 to avoid having to make a selection.

Harrisonburg Internal Medicine is a private medical practice, not owned or run by a large corporation.  Our very experienced physicians and staff offer competent, comprehensive, traditional medical care for adults in a kind and gentle manner.  We make every effort to promote wellness and prevent illness while avoiding excessive expenses.

We look forward to serving you in the future.
